The second release of the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio is out!

The second release of the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio is out!

We are happy to announce the second release of the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio in June 2025. Before we dive into the details of the second AI REDGIO Portfolio release, let’s take a quick look at the scope, purpose, and structure of the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio.

What is the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio?

The AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio is a useful library of resources about Edge AI and ML available through an easy-to-use wiki. It offers a compilation of reference implementations of Edge AI assets for manufacturing business cases, coming from open-source initiatives, the AI REDGIO 5.0 partners’ background and experience, and from the AI REDGIO 5.0 Experiments.

Who is it for, and why should they use it?

The AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio of Reference Edge AI Implementations is open to everyone! Researchers, data scientists, and other interested individuals can find reference tools and resources which can help them kickstart their Industry 5.0 journey. If a user wants to start their own Edge AI experiment, they can take inspiration or even use the assets available through the wiki in their own projects.

How is it structured?

The AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio has four main sections:

  • In the Home Page you can get a quick overview of the Portfolio content, easily find relevant assets based on the asset categories, and find the five assets/pages that were last updated in the wiki.

  • In the Landscape Analysis you can find all the background research on areas adjacent to Edge AI and Industry 5.0.

  • The AI Reference Implementations section contains existing useful material compiled by AI REDGIO 5.0 to help you kickstart your manufacturing AI experiments.

  • The AI REDGIO 5.0 Enabling Tools section includes information about the AI Solutions of the AI REDGIO 5.0 project.

What are the assets and asset categories?

When we say assets in the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio, we mean anything that can be produced from AI/ML and analytics work, such as landscape analysis texts, datasets, code, libraries, and more!

To allow the user easily find assets of interest in the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio, we have defined five asset categories (accessible through the Home Page), that cover various aspects of an AI asset, including:

  • Asset Type (how is the asset delivered?): e.g. dataset, executable, Jupyter Notebook, etc.

  • AI Algorithm Types (what type of AI algorithms are relevant to a specific asset?): e.g. Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Fuzzy Learning, and more.

  • AI Purpose (what AI problem does the asset solve?): e.g. Machine Vision, Outlier Detection, Generic Purpose, etc.

  • AI Problem (in which real-life manufacturing use case can the asset be used?): e.g. Predictive Maintenance, Process Optimisation, Resource Planning, and more.

  • Deployment (is the asset targeted for cloud or edge-based systems?).

What’s new is the second release?

Apart from additional content continuously added, the Wiki has been enhanced in its second release with an AI-based smart search assistant – the AI REDGIO 5.0 Search Assist! The AI REDGIO 5.0 Search Assist is an intelligent widget integrated into the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio. It is a smart search solution that receives user questions, goes through the content of the AI REDGIO 5.0 Portfolio, and provides to the user brief summaries and related material. Additionally, it allows the user to make follow-up questions that optimize search results.
