From results to market: how AI REDGIO 5.0 is turning Innovation into Impact

Turning research results into real-world value is at the heart of the AI REDGIO 5.0 project. Throughout the project, strong emphasis has been placed on ensuring that technological innovation does not stop at the prototype level but continues well beyond the project’s lifetime through clear exploitation and market-oriented strategies.

A solid exploitation foundation

AI REDGIO 5.0 has delivered a comprehensive Exploitation Plan, built on the identification of more than 40 Key Exploitable Results (KERs) generated by project partners. These results have been strategically clustered into three major exploitation packages, enabling both individual and joint exploitation paths:

a) Industry 5.0 Consultancy Package: this category includes services, models and methodologies developed and know-how/expertise gained thanks to the project. These KERs ownership will lead to an advantage related to acquired know-how, skills, and acquired consultancy.

b) Data Space/AI at the Edge Technological Package: this category comprehends all hardware and software solutions, related to the design, development, and applications of Data Space and Edge technologies. These KERs can generate business opportunities and competitive advantages for the owner and co-owners.

c) Experiments / Open Calls Industrial Package: this category includes the value generated by project Experiments and the open call winners. Also in this case, these KERs can generate earnings and competitive advantages for the owner and co-owners.

This structured approach has supported the definition of go-to-market strategies, business planning activities, and scale-up and replication roadmaps, covering a time horizon from the end of the project up to five years after its completion.

Aligning technology, market, and sustainability

As the project progressed, the exploitation strategy and roadmap were continuously refined. The final set of exploitable assets integrates additional outputs resulting from ongoing technical achievements, ensuring that the exploitation framework fully reflects the project’s maturity.

A strong focus was placed on market needs, sustainability aspects, and intellectual property considerations, enriching technical results with a clear business perspective. This market-driven approach enabled a deeper understanding of the unique selling points of AI REDGIO 5.0 solutions.

Individual and joint exploitation for long-term impact

Both individual and joint exploitation strategies were defined to highlight the project’s novelty and added value. These strategies leverage cutting-edge technological innovation, knowledge sharing across partners, and the strong professional expertise within the consortium.

The Exploitation Plan also emphasises replicability and scalability, identifying the resources needed to sustain project outcomes in the long term. This includes not only internal investment strategies but also the exploration of external funding opportunities.

In line with this vision, all consortium partners updated their Individual Exploitation Plans, confirming their strong commitment to sustaining AI REDGIO 5.0 results and integrating them into their future business strategies.

Core technologies as key differentiators

The overall analysis of KERs and joint exploitation intentions highlights the core technologiesof AI REDGIO 5.0 as its main distinguishing features. These include AI-at-the-Edge, Data Spaces, AI for Manufacturing toolkits, Digital Factory (DF) networks, and AI Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs), including TERESA.

These elements not only drive individual exploitation paths but also shape the vision and missionof the project’s exploitation vehicles.

Exploitation vehicles enabling continuity and replication

The exploitation of AI REDGIO 5.0 results is supported by three dedicated portals developed within the project: the AI REDGIO 5.0 L2 Portal, the Edge AI Reference Implementation Portfolio, and the IoT Catalogue Connector.

Targeting specific user communities, these portals play a key role in structuring the post-project phase, strengthening value propositions, and accelerating time-to-marketthrough consolidated and well-packaged exploitable assets.

Looking beyond the project’s lifetime

The AI REDGIO 5.0 exploitation strategy is designed to ensure success well beyond the project’s end by consolidating all exploitable assets into coherent commercial offerings, guaranteeing the continuity of joint exploitation activities among consortium partners, and enabling large-scale replication and adoption of the project’s solutions. In parallel, the strategy actively supports knowledge transferto other manufacturing sectors and AI domains, maximising the long-term impact of the project’s results.

Building the future of AI-enabled manufacturing

All the work carried out and results achieved within AI REDGIO 5.0 form a strong foundation for the future evolution of AI technologies in manufacturing. By combining innovation, market readiness, and long-term vision, AI REDGIO 5.0 contributes to building a vibrant and sustainable ecosystem that will continue to grow well beyond the project itself.
