Focus on Second Open Call winners: Human-Centric, AI-Enhanced Catalyst Production for a Circular Economy – HARMONY

WHAT ABOUT THE EXPERIMENT?
The HARMONY experiment is dedicated to transforming the design and production of our catalyst nanomaterials into a sustainable, circular process through an AI-driven, human-centric approach. With the shift from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0, the project focuses on enhancing human well-being, sustainability, and resilience within industrial operations. The core challenge that HARMONY addresses
is the current inefficiency and environmental impact of catalyst design and production for hydrogen energy, CO2 valorization, and other green energy applications. Traditional methods often rely on costly, energy-intensive processes with limited adaptability, leading to significant waste and resource consumption. This project aims to overcome these challenges by integrating AI with human-centered
digitalization to create a flexible, adaptive, and efficient catalyst design/production system for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
WHAT IS THE EXPECTED IMPACT?
Technological Impact:
• Reduction in production waste by 25% through real-time adjustments.
• Increase in process efficiency by 30% via optimized catalyst formulations.
• Real-time monitoring of production parameters with a 95% accuracy rate.
Economic Impact:
• 20% reduction in production costs due to optimized resource utilization.
• 10% increase in production capacity driven by process automation and efficiency.
Commercial Impact:
• Expansion into two new markets for green fuel and energy storage catalysts within 12 months post-project.
• Increased customer acquisition by 15%, driven by high-quality, sustainably-produced catalysts.
